Student-Exchange Visa

In general, Israeli nationals do not require a visa to enter Germany. They can apply for the necessary residence permit from the Foreigners Authority (Ausländerbehörde) upon arrival in Germany.

For an application at the German Embassy in Tel Aviv you need to make an appointment online:

The processing time for the visa takes approximately 30 days.

On your appointment please submit:

ө One fully completed and signed application form

You can download the national visa application form and the declaration from our internet page

ө A valid passport (plus one copy)

ө Two biometric passport photos

ө Letter of invitation from the university in Germany (plus one copy)

ө Letter from your own university / college in Israel confirming that you are enrolled as a student and that you will participate in the student exchange program with Germany (plus one copy)

ө Proof of sufficient financial means to cover the costs of living and studying during your stay in Germany (plus one copy).

You need to show that you have at least 934.- Euro per month available.

1. Own funds

It is possible to show either your own or the financial background of your parents. Salary slips and bank statements of the last three months of you or your parents must be submitted. It must be clearly and without any doubt obvious that you can finance the living costs in Germany yourself.

OR

2. Scholarship

If you receive a scholarship for your studies in Germany please submit the confirmation of your scholarship. (e.g. Erasmus scholarship)

ө Proof of a travel insurance for Germany with a coverage of at least 30,000 Euros and validity for all Schengen countries for the time until you are covered by the student health care scheme

The application fee for the study visa is 75.- Euro to be paid in cash in NIS or by credit card.
